Foreign Investors

The State Revenue Office is heavily regulating foreign investors who purchase in Australia.

Unless you are an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident (NOT on a temporary Visa) or a New Zealand Citizen who is present in Australia at the time of settlement, you are considered to be a foreign investor.

EVERY purchaser of real estate must complete a Duties On Line Form irrespective of if you are a foreign investor or not.  This Form enables the State Revenue Office to identify whether or not a purchaser is a foreign investor for the purposes of stamp duity calculations.  Should a purchaser not fall into the exempt categories for purchasing property in Victoria, an additional 7% stamp duty will apply to these transactions.
